Hans Gasser

HANS GASSER was born in Schwaz in Tyrol, Austria in 1950. Since 1967 he has lived in Innsbruck, where he has worked as a dentist for some 25 years now. As a photographer, he constantly finds himself challenged by desert vistas. He makes use of panorama photography as an instrument for conveying a tangible sense of the breadth and fascination of such settings. Ever since 1990 Hans Gasser has been repeatedly traveling to the desert regions of the Sahara and most recently, he visited the region around the Jabal al Awaynat in Southeast Libya. His "Sahara" calendar won the Stuttgart Calendar Show Prize. His impressions of the desert have been brought together for the first time in a single volume: "Hans Gasser: Sahara", which came out in the EDITION PANORAMA BIBLIOTHEK series.
